, The winter season begins this week. The Wimbledon Club have submitted an extra team into the men’s Surrey Cup this year taking five teams forward and the ladies have made a return to the Surrey Trophy transferring from their previous league, the Queen’s Cup. Both the men’s and ladies sides have made some exciting top flight acquisitions while further down the order we have seen an incredible number of juniors making the jump to the senior sides of both the men’s and ladies’ list of nominations, testament to our junior coaching program. The first Division 2 home match of the winter season: 7.30pm this Wednesday 7th October vs RAC 1 GRAFTON HAYMES The Wimbledon Club have been very fortunate to gain the support of HR recruitment company Grafton Haymes who have very kindly and generously agreed to sponsor all teams this coming season. Grafton Haymes is headed up by club member Paul Grafton and the section is grateful to Paul for his assistance, not just for this season but as part of a 2 year partnership that will see all teams wearing smart club kit with the Grafton Haymes logo displayed. The Wimbledon Club now has exciting, new talent to call upon to help the flagship team return to elite Surrey Cup Division 1. The top nominated squad shown below will not play every match but will be called upon according to our need and their availability. Ladies – New players -Lauren Briggs who lives locally in Southfields will lead the ladies forward this season and also be a regular 3rd team player for the men’s team. Lauren reached a career-high World Ranking of 18 in December 2008 and has twelve International tour titles accredited to her name. In February 2015, Briggs won the Over 35's Masters British National Championship, and in May 2015, she won the Over 35's British Open. Her Masters success continued in September after winning the European Master's in Malmo, Sweden. -Sarah Davis is not just the lead figure of our junior coaching team but a talented and experienced county level player. In the past knee injuries have frustratingly kept Sarah away from the court in a competitive capacity but she will be returning this season to help our squad challenge for one of the top league positions. We look forward to seeing you at the forthcoming home matches. Regards, Stacey Ross, Director of Squash David Hurst, Team Support
