I am thrilled to be able to share the news that the Wimbledon Club will, in less than five weeks’ time, host one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Professional World Tour, The Channel Vas Championships.
The men’s event will run from 6th to 11th March and have a prize fund of $110,000 on offer to 24 of the very best players in the world.
World number one Ali Farag plus 4 more of the world’s top ten are presently registered to play.
The event will take place on a glass court inside the indoor sports hall. Construction of an arena with capacity for 300 people, plus media centre and hospitality area will begin in a month’s time.
The event is a tremendous opportunity for the club and for our members to enjoy the absolute highest level of Squash on our doorstep.
More than 1200 spectators across the six days are expected to attend and the event will be broadcast on Squash TV which has more than 1m viewers globally.

For us to be able to host this event, we have needed the cooperation of the other sections, in particular cricket and tennis who have been hugely supportive. Our thanks and appreciation also go to Hockey and Short Sports for their help and readiness to relocate their activities.
Further details of the social events scheduled during the six days will be released over the coming period.
