Tennis box league run 3 - IMPORTANT CHANGES PLEASE READ

,

The results from run 2 have now been processed and new entries have also been taken. We began the leagues in September with 5 players in each box. After accepting new entries for run 2 and run 3 some boxes were beginning to have 7 players in and this is too many for the time period given to complete matches. Therefore we have reverted back to 5 player boxes. This has meant putting players in one long list (based upon finishing positions from run 2 having taken into account promotion/demotion) and then adding in new entries. I have then gone down the list grouping players in boxes of 5. If your league number has stayed the same or gone down when you were expecting it to go up, your overall ranking (looking at all entries in one list) will be where it should be other than where new entrants have been placed ahead of you. As per the rules, new entrants have been placed in a box at the coaching teams discretion based upon that persons previous results in either league or club championships matches and their standard.

Changes to format

For run 3 we are introducing a choice of formats. After reviewing further feedback from run 2 we are now offering players a shorter format they can choose to play if they wish to. The two formats are as follows:

Standard format

The standard format for this run will remain the same. Two full sets with a tie break to be played at 6-6. Should a match go to one set all then a match tiebreak will be played to decide the outcome of the match.

Short format

The short format for this run will be a 15 service game format. Should players choose this format then 15 games are to be played with a tie break to 7 at 7-7. A player can win 15-0, 14-1, 13-2, 12-3 etc.

Should players be unable to agree on what format to play then play must default to the standard format.

Submitting Results (standard format)

It is the responsibly of the winning player to input the match result on MyCourts. The points system for results entry is as follows:

- Participation in the match = 1 point.

- Each set won including the match tie break = 1 point.

- Match win = 1 point.

Therefore, a straights sets win will result in a 4-1 scoreline on MyCourts and a two sets to one win will result in a 4-2 scoreline on MyCourts.

Since MyCourts will not allow us to enter actual match scorelines we recommend that all players keep track of their match results and scorelines.

At the end of a league run, should a member wish for their results to be submitted to the LTA, we can then forward on those results.

Please note we cannot guarantee that the LTA will accept results for ratings points.

Submitting Results (short format)

It is the responsibly of the winning player to input the match result on MyCourts. The points system for results entry is as follows:

- 10-5 win or better will result in a 4-1 victory.

- 9-6 win or closer will result in a 4-2 victory.

If you have any questions regarding these changes please let me know.

Thanks and kind regards,

Ross Sheppard
