WANT TO REPRESENT THE CLUB?

Surrey Cup is the league in which most of our Men’s and Ladies Teams compete and the winter fixtures have now reached the half way stage. This means that clubs can now add new players to their teams for the second half.

If you would like to play for any of the club’s teams in the New Year please contact Stacey.

FIRST HALF TEAM RESULTS

Our five men’s team had a successful first half overall with three teams finishing in the top half of their divisions.

Congratulations must go to our 2nd team who have finished top of their division at the half way stage.

Our 4th and 5th teams lay in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

LADIES 1st TEAM

Our ladies play in the top Division of Surrey Cup which is very competitive.

We have a strong team, half of which is comprised of two superb junior players Sana and Ayesha Adnan. The two girls have put in some great performances against tough senior opposition in the first half and have done exceptionally well in their debut matches for the club.

The team has some points missing on League Master but when added will move the team up to a very respectable fourth place.

MEN’S 1st TEAM

TWC’s top team plays in the highest division of Surrey Cup, Division1, which is also one of the strongest leagues in the UK.

Some of the world’s top players are registered to play, such as world number 7 Marwan Elshorbagy as are nearly all of the UKs strongest players.

TWC’s first team has had a difficult first half. Two of our strongest players, Peter Marshall former world number 2 and Brazilian number 1 Vini Rodrigues have been unable to play regularly due to injuries which have considerably weakened the side.

The team had two good wins in their last two matches keeping them in the fight to remain in the top division. A loss in either match would have made meant certain delegation but instead now have a great opportunity to stay up.

MEN’S 2nd TEAM

The second team had a great first half finishing top of division 3B. However local club Wimbledon Rackets and Fitness are just 11 points behind with a game in hand which will make it a hard battle for the top spot in the second half.

MEN’S 3rd TEAM

Division 3R has three teams, including TWC’s top team, tied mid-table on 60 points. TWC has played one less match than the other two teams so is well placed to move into second or third position early on in the second half.

MEN’S 4th TEAM

Our fourth team have finished in second place and can still accrue more points than the top and third team as they also have a match in hand.

MEN’S 5th TEAM

The fifth team have ended the first half in third place and are just three points away from the second spot.

The league will restart in the first week of January.

From myself and on behalf of the Squash Committee I hope you have a great Christmas and an enjoyable festive break.

Kind regards,

Stacey Ross
Squash Director
