SQUASH: Men's 1st Team results and tonight's fixture

Dear [[firstname]],

The last home match for the men’s first team on 20th January was their first match of the second half where a convincing win was needed if they were to have any chance of staying in the top division.

The half way stage allows teams to add players to their list of nominations and finding ourselves at risk of going down meant strong, new players were required. World number 32 George Parker and upcoming talent Nick Wall, already at 70 on the world aged 20, were duly drafted in and took up positions 1 and two in the side against opponents David Lloyd Purley.

The team was at full strength with Tom Walsh, Vini Rodrigues and Jordan taking up places 3,4 and 5 in the order, two spots below their first half positions. All team players fully delivered with solid wins all round and maximum points were secured.

Our position in the division has been transformed as result of that match and further helped along by other results from that week. Our first team is now out of the relegation zone and one place away from mid table although not yet completely safe.

TWC’s top team continue their campaign to remain in the top division again this evening. Their match tonight is at New Malden, just a short trip down the A3 and certainly worth the journey.

George Parker is again playing at first string and his likely opponent will be Joe Lee. Joe reached 29 in the world (just three places above George’s present ranking) before losing his ranking due to injury. Joe is now back to form and has the wildcard for our $110,000 Gold PSA event in March.

TWC’s line up of players for tonight is as follows:

George Parker
Tom Walsh
Vini Rodrigues
Michael Mattimore
Steve Richardson

The team looks forward to seeing some familiar TWC faces in the New Malden gallery.

The match starts at 7.30pm, don’t be late !

Regards,

Stacey Ross
Squash Director
