A reminder about booking in for Social Tennis ....

Dear Members,

Our social tennis sessions are very popular and in order for us to manage courts and players we would kindly remind you that you need to book your slot in advance using My courts.

The morning sessions are hugely popular and have a set number of spaces which are usually full with a waiting list. However the availability alert works well and if you can’t get on initially then don’t forget to opt in for that.

Wednesday evening and the weekend socials have a bigger capacity as we have 5 courts but it is still essential that you sign up in advance.

This is for some of the following reasons:

  • To ensure that the number of members signed up complements the amount of courts we have booked out, and that members have a fair amount of playing and waiting time. If we are fully booked then we may consider trying to book an extra court if there is still one free to allow more people to attend the social - this often happens in the summer when we can use 6 of the grass courts. Likewise if only a few people sign up then we know we can release courts for other members to be able to use.
  • To allow the person running the session to be able to plan some of the matches in advance and create matches which are competitive and fair.
  • If people are signed up they are more likely to arrive at the start of the session and play can get underway quickly.
  • For health and safety reasons, to ensure we have accurate data of who is on site and so that all members can be accounted for in case of emergencies
  • For general help in planning future activities at the club it is good to be able to have the data of the number of people playing etc.

We do allow some flexibility within these peak sessions as we are aware some members don’t always want to play the whole 2 1/2 hours and so we have extra spaces to allow for some rotation and the occasional sitting out but it’s usually only ever maximum of one round. We are also aware that sometimes you don’t know in advance if you are able to book onto a session and you find you are suddenly free especially if it’s a nice day, then by all means if you can see there are still spaces showing on my courts you can come down to the club and book onto mycourts when you arrive.

And finally please remember to be respectful to all the coaches and allow them to run the session. They are doing their best to ensure everyone gets a good game.

We thank you and would greatly appreciate your cooperation with this to ensure all social tennis sessions are an enjoyable experience for all.

I look forward to seeing some of you on court soon.

Kind regards,

Rachel Angel

On behalf of the Tennis Committee
