SQUASH: News update

Dear [[firstname]],

Please find below information regarding Squash activity at The Club.

COURT FEES

The current £1 court fee rate, introduced in response to severely restricted play, will return to £4 on Monday 2nd August due to playing restrictions having been lifted.

NEW COURT FLOOR INSTALLATION AND COURT 5

The recent work carried out to the floors on courts 3 and 4 involved the substructure being replaced to ensure the floor remained well sprung in order to absorb the impact from play and the repositioning of batons that support that playing surface. These can move over time creating dead-spots which lead to the ball bouncing at a lower height in some areas. The floors were then sanded and re-laid.

Sufficient time has passed since the work was completed to allow fair review of the performance of the floor’s playing surfaces on courts 3 and 4.

It has been considered that the quality is not of a high enough standard. Our courts should always be of the highest quality for members’ enjoyment and also meet the expectations of Squash’s best players when TWC hosts future world class tournaments.

The decision has therefore been taken to remove the floors completely and install new floors and new substructures on courts 3 and 4.

This will be carried out between 13th and 16th July. One court will be taken out at a time to ensure there will be four courts available at all times during this four day period.

Court 5 is currently being used for storage for the Tennis Champs but will come back in action on 13th July and is now available to book.

LEAGUES

A new league cycle will be released at the end of this week.

If you are not currently playing in the leagues and want to be included or are playing but would like to withdraw please email director@twcsquash.co.uk

The leagues can only operate successfully if players are proactive about organising their matches and are responsive to requests to play. If you are going away, injured or cannot play for any reason please make your fellow league players aware.

NEW LEAGUE RULE

Please note that:

- At the end of the cycle, players who have played the most matches in their league will be awarded an additional bonus point.

Formerly only players who had played all their matches would receive an additional point.

This rule will be introduced when the next cycle begins.

NEW DAYTIME LEAGUE

If you would like to play in a new daytime league please email director@twcsquash.co.uk

Matches for this league can be played at any time but those who enter must be predominantly available to play between 9 am and 5.45 pm Monday to Friday.

Players can play in both league cycles if they wish.

The Daytime League will operate with the same rules as the usual league but may have fewer players per league.

In the event that two or more players are in both the Daytime League and the usual league cycle, the result of the match may be recorded in both leagues but only if there is clear agreement between both players.
