TWC Club Championships 2024

Tournament Rules – Courtesy Guidelines

Open to all members peak and off peak.

I would like to thank the CC24 committee Tom Knowles, Sophie Norris, Don Knight, Tony Tripp and Nicola Milburn for helping out in setting up this years event, draws, rules and regulations to make this event enjoyable for everyone.

PRIOR TO YOUR MATCH

Matches are best of 3 sets (3rd set is a 10-point tie – break) except for the handicap events, who is running on best of 3 full sets, with no tie - break.
In all matches, correct scores are important, and we want to know not only the winner, but also the score of it. Let us know.
Courts for matches to be booked on “My Courts”. Please insert the name of your opponent at the time of booking. Peak members must account for the appropriate guest fee when playing against an off-peak member at peak times.
A total of 2 hours can be booked for your match. If your match is not complete by the end of a 2 hours booking and there is a booking due to come onto your court, your match will need to be completed at a later date. If another date/time cannot be agreed by a player, then that player will forfeit the match.
It is the responsibility of the top player in the draw to give 3 dates to the bottom player. If none are convenient then it is the responsibility of the bottom player to offer 3 more dates to the top player. If none are convenient then the match will be decided by coin toss.
Where a player does not full fill their obligation to offer dates to their opponent, then their opponent can claim a walkover.
Where a match has an agreed date and a player can no longer make that date, the other player is entitled to a walkover if less than 24-hour’s notice is given.
Please use the member’s directory found on the “My Courts” website to find your opponent’s contact details.

ON YOUR MATCH DAY

Where a player is late for the arrival of an agreed match start time, after 15 minutes they forfeit the first set and after half an hour they forfeit the match.
Both competitors must provide their own balls for all matches preceding the quarter finals and decide before warming up, about the one they will use.
Arrive early, warm up physically prior to your match to avoid injury, set up a meeting point and time with your opponent on the day.
On court etiquette is extremely important – good sportsmanship, respecting your opponent and being a fair competitor.
Silence your phone and don’t forget to sweep the courts afterwards if it is dry.
Call the lines loudly and clearly for your opponent to hear.

PLAYING THE HANDICAP?

Player entered in any Handicap event will be given a number (between -1/6 & +30) who will determine their starting position in each game.

As an example, if your net handicap (single or combined double) is -3/6 then you will start at -15 on each game at the 1st 3rd and fifth game of the set. And so on…we are never far so please do shout out if any issue and refer to the Handicap players list 2024. Be aware that the committee, could change during the event any individual or team subject to results.

ROUND ROBIN

If you participate in a round robin draw, please ensure to communicate the results to director@Twctennis.co.uk and admin@twctennis.co.uk as my court account will not be able to record your results. Thank you for your help.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY RESULTS?

Upon completion of each match, it is the responsibility of the winning player to select their name so that they proceed to the next round.
This can be done from the tournament event page on My Courts and inputting the score. If you have any issue, please contact admin@twctennis.co.uk

WHEN IS MY NEXT MATCH?

If you are the successful player - congratulations! It would be kind to treat your opponent for a drink at the bar afterwards and share your views on the match. Please contact your next opponent ASAP.
If you are the runner up of the match, unfortunately the road ends here. However, we would gratefully welcome you to this CC24 final day on the 9th of June 2024, where all finals will be played.

PLAY BY DATES:

They are noted on the top of each draw on my Court.
Please refer to it to ensure your match is completed within the correct period.
Please inform admin@twctennis.co.uk if you are struggling for any reason. Failure to do so, will see a toss of coin action to determine the winner.

FINALS DAY AND PRIZES CEREMONY

For finals day, the order of play will be presented on the day, Saturday 15th June 2023, followed by a Ceremony Prizes event.

We do hope you enjoy your matches and meet new members along the way.

GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOUR MATCHES!!
