SQUASH: Submit the names of those in your squash bubble

Dear [[firstname]],

September 1st will mark a very welcome return to full squash!

However this is permissible only with a clear proviso- that being, members must form a “squash bubble” with a group of up to six players.

Presently squash cannot be played randomly with mixed opponents outside of a created bubble or with the usual rules that would have applied pre Covid-19.

The health and safety of all who use the club remains paramount. We therefore respectively ask that the rule relating to "squash bubbles" is adhered to for the duration of phase two of England Squash’s road map to making a full return to “full play”.

To ensure that TWC remains a safe club and that our members and guests can be confident that they are playing squash in a secure environment there will be active monitoring of court usage and the number of opponents per player.

We therefore kindly ask that all players submit the names of all the players in their bubble via email to: director@twcsquash.co.uk BEFORE any member plays full squash.

Please also state in your email that you agree to follow England Squash’s “bubble guidance” which can be found here https://www.englandsquash.com/back-to-squash/guidance-for-players.

This request is not just in the interest safety but to ensure that members can continue to play within a group of their first choice.

For players who are unsure with whom to create a bubble please email director@twcsquash.co.uk

Please note that players can only be part of one bubble at a time and those from the same household or support bubble can play ‘normal’ squash as they would have prior to COVID-19 using the “Rules of Play” listed below.

If a player wishes to switch bubbles, they must take a 7-day break from playing the full version of the game before joining a different bubble. ‘Sides’ or socially distanced practices can be played during this 7-day break.

RULES OF PLAY

• Only two players on court at one time.
• Play best of three games.
• Play first to 11 points, sudden-death at 10-all.
• During each game, when the first player reaches five points, both
players should wipe away excessive sweat, sanitise their hands
and the ball. Repeat between games.
• The same player to serve / touch the ball during each half of a
game, and at the halfway point, switch servers.
• Players must wear protective eye-wear or visor.
• Players must not wipe their hands on the court walls.
• Players are not allowed to shout or raise their voice.

If you would like any more information or are not entirely clear on any of the above please email Director@twcsquash.co.uk

Regards,

Stacey Ross
