Dear [firstname]],
Resounding wins this week from the Men’s 1st and 2nd teams in their penultimate matches of the winter season have set up division winning opportunities for both teams and place TWC on the verge of historic Surrey Cup success.
MEN’S 1
An incredible 5-0 win for the 1s over St George’s Hill at home on Tuesday has closed the gap on Division 1 leaders Surbiton and set up a title-deciding match against Surbiton, at Surbiton this coming Wednesday (28th February).
Despite having a formidable list of players including two of the world’s top ten players, two more inside the top 20 and three time former world number 1 Nick Matthew, Surbiton cannot call on any of these players for the final match due to rules that stipulate how many times any player must play during the season. Their side, for now at least, is under wraps but the presumed order of play is shown below against TWC’s confirmed team.
TWC 1s v Surbiton 1s
Jonah Bryant v Simon Herbert (World number 53)
Jared Carter v Ben Coleman (HWR 45)
Sam Osborne-Wylde v Ameesh Chandaran
Alex Broadbridge v Jack Mitterer
Tiago Goriely v Sam Miller
TRAVEL TO THE GAME
Subject to enough supporters wanting to travel to see the match, return transport to Surbiton will be provided from the club. If this is of interest to you please email Stacey asap : director@twcsquash.co.uk
MEN’S 2
Whilst TWC 1s seek to become Division 1 champions, the second team will be striving for promotion into Division 1 against Surrey Sports Park in their away match on the same evening.
The second team are top of Division 2 with Surrey Sports Park just eight points behind in second place. A win for the 2s would see both of TWC’s top men’s teams sharing the highest Division in Surrey.
